Achilles Road Running Club will be staging its popular Run for Toys from its clubhouse at Walmer Golf Club in 10th Avenue, Walmer on Thursday 7 December at 5.30pm. This fun event takes the form of a 5km walk or run through the leafy suburb of Walmer. There is no entry fee – participants are rather encouraged to bring a can of non-perishable food or a toy which will be distributed to the two chosen beneficiaries. The non-perishable items will be handed over to The Sanctuary – a haven for the elderly run by the Women’s Benevolent Society. All the toys gathered on the day will be given to the Zanetemba organization which cares for abused, abandoned and neglected children aged 0 to 6.
“Our annual Run for Toys is all about making the Festive season a little bit more enjoyable for those less fortunate than ourselves,” says Achilles PRO Caro-Anne Cash. “Children and adults are welcome. Bring a little gift or a tin of food along and don’t forget to wear your Christmas outfit or something red. There will be a cash bar available at Walmer Golf Club after the run and we’ll do a few lucky draws and also have boerie rolls on sale.” For more information contact Carol-Anne Cash on 0845023300
